2006 Ghana Missions Report

- by Pastor Isum

Ian Edmondson (Pinecrest graduate with whom I have made two other mission trips to Jamaica, and who served as an intern at DCF) and I left Newark, NJ October 10th arriving in Accra early evening October 11th.  We spent the night at the WEC guest house and drove to Adidome Thursday to begin our first Pastor/Leaders Seminar.  Twenty six leaders met with us from Thursday evening to Saturday noon.  We emphasized the leader's personal life.  David said that "no one cares for my soul."  That became our theme for all three seminars that we did.  Most pastors seminars deal with numbers, or as someone else stated it...buildings, baptism, and budgets.  The Lord blessed in wonderful ways as we sought to care for the souls of the leaders.  The second seminar was at Mafi-Kumase and 73 ministers were involved in this seminar.  We plan on having a three day seminar in Mafi-Kumase a year from now.  The third seminar was combined with an I AM school located at Bechem.  Our primary reason for this mission was to train teachers for a Bible College that is set to begin classes in September 2007.  We limited the class of potential teachers to seven students so that we could give them much personal attention.  There is such promise in these teachers.  There is such a hunger for the Word of God.  We were kept quite busy outside of the classroom simply ministering to various needs.  God is doing a wonderful work at the mission in Adidome.  I shall be going to Ghana to do another teacher training session, perhaps in May, and then I shall be there for the opening of the school in September. Be much in prayer for this project...a very needed project.  Updates will be made regarding this project as we go along.

The orphanage at Adidome now has 39 children.  The water pump was out of commission, so we were able to buy a 3 horsepower pump to get water flowing again.  When you have 39 children and 8-10 staff water is essential.  All water for about a month was bucketed from the river...even little children, 6 years old would be lugging a water bucket...everyone helped...it was great.  We are so thankful for the support given to us that enabled us to purchase the pump.  We wanted to buy bicycles for the pastors...I hoped to get ten, but we were able to get 13, ten of them were given to village pastors who have great distances to go to minister.  With the bikes they will be able to get around more easily than they did on foot previously.  Three of the bicycles were bought for the young ladies at the mission in Adidome.  There was such excitement as the girls were singled out for such attention.  We were able to minister with Joseph Dekji in Bechem and Emmanuel Kwasi Adjei in Kenyasi.  We spent time with Mindy Juliano, who is now working at an orphanage in Sunyani.  She has a nice room there in the World Vision ministry where she lives.  We provided $400.00 for playground equipment at the orphanage in Sunyani.  Our Father is so gracious and generous to care for

His people.  Bless the name of the LORD!  It was our pleasure to be with Donna Rohrmiller for several days too.  She is working with the I AM school in Bechem right now, and will oversee the start of other schools in Ghana.

Pray for us as we continue to see the Body of Christ grow strong in Ghana.  I am glad to be home again with Sandy, and the family here.  So good to be with the saints in our community here.  We are grateful for all that our God is doing in, for, and through us!  It is so astounding to think that our God would desire to use us for His eternal purpose.  Blessed be our God forever.  May you all enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday that lies just before us.  It is my favorite family holiday.  "O give thanks unto the LORD, for He is good, and His mercy endures forever."

Love and blessings to all;  Marv
